17-year-old drive-by shooting victim dies

A 17-year-old Kearns boy who was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting Saturday morning has died. Luis A. Trujillo died about 4 p.m. Sunday, said West Valley City police Capt. Tom McLachlan. Trujillo was sitting in the back of a friend's car just after 1:15 a.m. on Interstate 15 near the State Road 201 exit when occupants in a brown passenger car pulled up and opened fire. Trujillo was shot in the head. His friends drove him to one of their homes where they called police. He was flown to LDS Hospital but died the next day. The boys told police they had left Club Vortex in Salt Lake City shortly after 1 a.m. and hadn't had any problems. No arrests have been made in the case, McLachlan.
