PAYSON - Bear alerts have closed campgrounds in northern and central Utah today.
Access to the Blackhawk Campground, located 16 miles south of Payson off the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway, was blocked off late last night.
The U.S. Forest Service says the action came after a bear was seen near campground dumpsters the past two nights.
Also closed today, as wildlife officials tried to catch another black bear, was the Ledgefork campground above the Smith and Morehouse Reservoir in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, about 45 miles east of Salt Lake City.
