LOGAN - The sun rose this morning on a new day in this northern Utah city.

"I'm hoping this gives us years and years of longevity," said Mayor Randy Watts on Tuesday night as he presented Logan City's $57,000 campaign called, "United we serve."

The most curious Cache Valley residents got the first look at a dazzling, high-gloss brochure at Tuesday's Logan City Council meeting. A new logo will soon replace a decade-old one commissioned by former Mayor Darla Clark. All of the business cards, letterhead, office doors and fleet vehicles in each of the city's 10 major departments will be united under one logo and individualized with an icon.

This morning banners featuring the new logo and motto lined Main Street. After being out of service for several days, Logan's redesigned Web site is also expected to come online in the early hours of the business day.

Cami Boehme, director of the Logan-based design company Digital Slant, called the new brand modern, identifiable, readable, simple and reflective of the geography.

"We wanted to convey strength and progress. We wanted to portray growth and, of course, we wanted to portray unity," Boehme said.
