Jenny Wilson hopes to make parking possible, and keep business alive, amid the dust associated with downtown's City Creek development.

If elected, the Salt Lake City mayoral hopeful has pledged to offer free street parking for two hours in the downtown business district throughout the four-year construction project. The plan defines the boundaries from North Temple to 400 South and 300 East to 500 West.

With the malls under demolition, Wilson is worried about the economic impact on small businesses.

"The city needs to work aggressively to remind citizens, shoppers and diners that downtown is thriving and open for business," the candidate and Salt Lake County Councilwoman said last week. "This plan will make it easy to continue to enjoy downtown."

Now, about getting a drink on Sunday . . .
