Posted: 6:29 PM- Parents for Choice in Education will debut two commercials Tuesday to promote Utah's contentious school voucher law. The ads have been in the works for a couple of months and are unrelated to a referendum effort to overturn the law, spokeswoman Nancy Pomeroy said.

Both ads make scant use of the word "voucher," which supporters call a divisive term, and stress that Utah's new law gives parents another choice "if public school doesn't work for their child."

"Choice in education also makes our good public schools even better," one spot's female narrator says. "The new law will mean smaller public school class sizes and more money spent per public school student."

The ads aim to drive viewers to a Web site that promotes the law and tells parents how to apply for vouchers. Utah could dispense private school vouchers by fall, barring a referendum effort to shelve the program until voters can vote whether to repeal it.
