Posted: 1:55 PM- A Solitude ski patroller suffered a broken leg Thursday after triggering an avalanche in a remote area of the ski resort.

The patroller set off the avalanche about noon in the Evergreen area of the mountain between Solitude and Brighton ski resorts, said resort spokesman Jay Burke.

The area is in bounds but rarely used, Burke said. It lies above the Solebright trail that connects the mountains.

After the avalanche, other patrollers searched the area and determined no other skiers were caught in the avalanche, Burke said.

County search and rescue teams were not called to the scene. The injured ski patroller, a man whom Burke declined to identify, was flown to a Salt Lake City hospital by helicopter.
