Posted: 12:47 PM- A federal magistrate on Friday ordered a Lehi man charged with robbing the same bank three times in three months held in jail until his case is resolved. The man's bride, who is accused of assisting in the third robbery, was released in the custody of her parents.

Prosectors had requested that both Joshua Samuel Rich and Kylee Ann Rich remain behind bars, claiming the newlyweds committed the heists to feed drug habits. They say the husband, 25, is a heroin abuser and the wife, 20, has admitted to "dabbling" in cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin.

"By her own admission, this third robbery was motivated by a lack of heroin and a need for money to buy drugs," assistant U.S. attorney John Huber argued at a detention hearing. "This wasn't a 'wake up on Saturday morning and decide what to do today' plan."

Magistrate David Nuffer agreed that Joshua Rich, who has a criminal record, is a danger to the community and might not show up for future court appearances if released. However, he decided Kylee Rich - whose attorney says has experimented with drugs but is not an addict - could live with her parents in Orem while the case is pending.

Joshua Rich is charged with three counts of armed bank robbery and Kylee Rich is charged with one count. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

The charging document alleges that Joshua Rich held up the Wells Fargo Bank at 144 S. State St. in Lindon on Nov. 10, Nov. 27 and Jan. 26. In all three robberies, surveillance photos show a man in dark clothing and a ski mask; in the first two, he displayed a small silver pistol and in the third, he had a large silver revolver.

In the January robbery, the suspect left the bank in a white Mustang. A half hour later, Kylee Rich was stopped by police as she was driving a white Mustang and taken into custody. Her husband was arrested the next day at a home in Pleasant Grove.

The two were identified as suspects after the second robbery, based on a citizen tip. Authorities also are investigating an allegation that a third person was involved.

Court records show Joshua Rich has been convicted of theft, theft by receiving stolen property, forgery, joyriding and unauthorized control of a vehicle.
