Posted: 8:32 AM- A driver was cited for not clearing the ice from his windshield after he struck a pedestrian Friday morning in South Jordan, police said.

The unidentified driver was traveling east on 9800 South shortly after 6 a.m. when he felt his passenger mirror hit something, according to South Jordan Sgt. Rob Hansen. The man turned around and found the victim, then called 911.

The victim was bleeding from the nose, and appeared to have head trauma. He was transported by a medical helicopter to University of Utah hospital, and it appeared he would recover, Hansen said. The man had not been identified this morning.

The driver apparently only cleared a portion of his windshield, "but he couldn't have seen anything out the passenger side," Hansen said. He was cited for obstruction of his windshield.
