2006 was the year Utah's new immigrants took to the streets and made themselves heard, and the year scores of them were arrested for allegedly breaking the law to be here. It was the year when Utahns once again went missing, victims of murder and the forces of nature. It was the year the president sought a friendly Utah audience to rally support for war and found protesters as well, the year five Utah soldiers died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Countless other soldiers returned with the hope of reclaiming their lives. It was the year when an ambitious new plan was launched to breathe life into downtown Salt Lake City. And the year when two sisters who shared the same body became individuals through the miracles of medicine.
