Lightning kills man aboard watercraft at Lake Powell

Posted: 11:29:26 AM- A lightning bolt struck and killed an Arizona man Sunday at Lake Powell.

Ken Vandehei, 48, of Gilbert, Ariz., was pronounced dead at a hospital in Page, Ariz., according to the National Park Service.

Vandehei was on a personal watercraft at Wahweap Marina when he was hit on the left shoulder by lightning, the Park Service said. The craft capsized, throwing Vandehei into the water.

People in Vandehei's party pulled him from the water and began CPR. Rangers arrived a short time later.
