Remember "The Aristocrats" from Sundance 2005, a movie featuring different comics telling one of the trade's dirtiest jokes? Well, the love it or hate it movie of Sundance 2006 just might be "Stay." The film, by standup comedian Bob Goldthwait, is the story of a young woman who is engaged and wrestles with whether to tell her fiance the dark secrets of her past - namely, that she engaged in sexual activity with her dog.

At a screening Tuesday at the Racquet Club, the film earned a mostly positive response and a fair amount of laughter, although a few audience members were heard giving the movie a verbal thumbs down as they left.

Director Goldthwait attended the screening wearing a giant fur hat and a kilt. In a Q&A after the film, he said he was shocked by audiences' mostly positive response.

"Sweet [expletive], I do believe that's the first time anybody called me a filmmaker...Look at me, I'm a [expletive] autuer. Some of you are going 'I can't believe that's the dude from 'Police Academy.'" Despite its subject matter, guaranteed to turn off some viewers, the movie is funny and actually very sweet, swinging on the universal question of whether anyone can be completely honest with the people they love.
