The Salt Lake Stingers may be finished until next season, but a select few players still have some baseball left to play.

Nine players were called up to the Angels in the closing weeks of the season that ended Monday in Las Vegas, including pitchers Greg Jones, Kelvim Escobar and Joe Saunders. Infielder Zach Sorensen was called up to give the Angels depth after an injury to Maicer Izturis. Infielder Lou Merloni was recalled from his rehab assignment on Sept. 6.

Catcher Jeff Mathis also was called up on Sept. 6. He joined outfielder Curtis Pride, who was called up shortly before the end of the season.

Other Stingers called up to the Angels include catcher Josh Paul and infielder Robb Quinlan. Paul and Quinlan went to Anaheim in late August after finishing their rehab assignments.
