A three-vehicle accident in Riverton on Tuesday morning left four people injured, including one teenage girl who was flown by helicopter to the hospital with internal injuries.

Unified Police Department Lt. Don Hutson said the girl, 16, either fell or was ejected from the passenger's side of a Suburban involved in the 7:20 a.m. crash near 12600 South and 2700 West. She was listed in critical but stable condition at Intermountain Medical Center.

Hutson said the eastbound Chevy Suburban was attempting to turn north onto 12600 South when it collided with a westbound Jeep; the Suburban then careened into another car, which was stopped at a red light.

Three people in the Jeep sustained minor injuries and were removed from the scene by ambulance, Hutson said.

Traffic was restricted to one lane while wreckage was being cleared.

Identities of those injured were not released. No citations were immediately issued in connection with the accident, which remained under investigation.
