West Jordan » This west-side suburb is not as soccer hungry as its capital neighbor.
On Wednesday, the West Jordan City Council put off a proposed study of its expansive, 23-field soccer complex that would determine how to get the worn-down fields into tournament-worthy shape. The decision came one day after the Salt Lake City Council approved plans for a $40 million sports complex, including a championship field, near the Jordan River and 2200 North.
West Jordan City Council members, who voted unanimously to delay the decision, expressed support for evaluating and prioritizing needed park investments citywide before spending money on any one project.
"I don't see this [study] as a wise investment in funds," said Councilman Chad Nichols, "if [the soccer complex is] not going to be our priority"
