The body of a missing Hooper woman was found in a field near West Haven early Sunday morning.

The death of Katherine "Kay" Doutre, 51, is being called suspicious, and she apparently died days after she disappeared a month ago, said Weber County Sheriff's Capt. Klint Anderson.

The body matching Doutre's description, including the clothing, was found at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. But the area where she was found, located near 3100 West off 4000 South in West Haven, had been searched shortly after she was reported missing, and nothing was found, Anderson said.

There were also several "credible sightings" reported to police by callers who said they had seen her alive days after her husband reported her missing.

The decomposition of the body showed she had been dead for several days, but there were no obvious indications of what killed her. Medical examiners will perform an autopsy.

Doutre was last seen by her husband at 7:30 a.m., Oct. 30. She was distraught and had been known to disappear for a few hours to compose herself, he told police, but this time she had been gone for 24 hours. She took no wallet, car or anything besides the clothes she wore, Anderson said.

Weber County search-and-rescue crews, along with deputies and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter, mounted several searches for her but turned no clues.
