Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher -- better known as "Joe the Plumber" -- is scheduled to visit Utah next month to stump for U.S. Senate candidate Cherilyn Eagar.

Eagar's campaign announced the planned visit today as part of her "Eagar to Clean Up Washington Tour of Utah."

Beginning in mid-November, Wurzelbacher and Eagar will hold several events in locations from Logan to St. George, including a planned rally at the State Capitol on Nov. 18 and a fundraising dinner that night at the Salt Lake Marriott hotel.

Eagar, who seeks the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Sen. Bob Bennett, said she met Wurzelbacher at a recent conference and was impressed with his speech.

"We are honored that Joe is coming to Utah to meet with us and help us spread the message of this campaign: Return to the principles that built the American Dream," the campaign said in a press release.

"Joe the Plumber" was thrust into the spotlight during last year's presidential campaign when, during a neighborhood campaign appearance by then-Sen. Barack Obama, he challenged the presidential hopeful's comment that he wanted to "spread the wealth around."

Conservatives seized on the remark as a sign the Democrat wanted to push the country toward socialism, and Wurzelbacher, for a time, became a symbol of that political sentiment.
