Gov. Gary Herbert is kicking off Idle Free Awareness Week in Utah.
Herbert, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon are encouraging Utah residents to turn off car engines if idling times are more than 10 seconds.
The group is putting a focus on getting parents to turn off their engines when waiting to pick up their children from school in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and save money on gas.
Last year, 63 schools participated in the campaign.
