A 45-year-old man described by police as a serial peeping Tom was sentenced Friday to two years in jail for watching girls in the women's locker room at Brighton High School last year.

Brian Richard Lee had pleaded guilty to five counts of class B misdemeanor voyeurism, admitting that he hid behind a shower curtain while scores of girls changed clothes, fixed their hair and practiced for a dance performance Oct. 29.

A 16-year-old girl spotted Lee crouching behind the curtain about 5 p.m. that day, according to testimony at a 3rd District Court preliminary hearing.

When another girl pulled open the curtain, Lee arose, put a finger to his lips and said, "Shhhh," and then fled.

Cottonwood Heights police officers caught Lee in the school parking lot with a tube of petroleum jelly in the pocket of his sweatpants.

Lee claimed he was watching the girls practice on stage, then ended up in the wrong locker room while attempting to find a bathroom.

There were about 50 girls in the locker room when Lee was discovered. Some girls had arrived at the school as early as 2 p.m., and no one saw Lee arrive, meaning he could have been hiding there for several hours, according to testimony.

Lee, of Sunset, has been convicted at least four times for similar peeping crimes at schools in Davis and Weber counties.
