Springville police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after they found a man and woman dead inside a home.

The family of Jeanie White, 40, called police around 9:45 p.m. Monday, saying they had not been able to get in touch with her all day, said Springville police Lt. Dave Caron.

Police went to the home, near 1200 South and 500 East, where they forced their way in and discovered White and Brian Sebastian, 46, each had died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Caron said the bodies were found in a bedroom, with a bag of White's belongings in the process of being packed. Police suspect Sebastian used a handgun to shoot White and then himself.

The pair lived together, but Caron was not sure whether they were married. He said police had been out to their home a few times on domestic violence calls and had made a couple of arrests.

Police arrested Sebastian in November 2008 on suspicion of domestic violence assault and intoxication, according to booking documents. Court records show charges apparently were not filed.

Prosecutors did file a class A misdemeanor charge of simple assault involving domestic violence against Sebastian on May 22.

In that case, a neighbor found White outside at about 12:30 a.m. whimpering and bleeding from her face, armpit, hip and knee. She told police that she and Sebastian had argued and he sat on top of her and punched her in the face. The two had been drinking and arguing about a baby rabbit White had recently brought home, according to police reports.

That same night, Sebastian told police he had no recollection of the fight and said he would never hurt White. He went on to claim she was "bipolar and psychotic and attacks me every day," a police report stated. He then complained that "the one time I have to put her down, set her down and I get in trouble for it."

Court records show that Sebastian pleaded not guilty June 4 and that a no-contact order was lifted at the request of White. The case was still pending.

White had repeatedly refused help from Springville's victim advocate, Caron said.

Caron said Sebastian bragged to officers that he had guns and a concealed-carry permit, though police had never seen any weapons.

Police are investigating the shooting and are waiting on the Medical Examiner's Office to confirm details.
