A Ford truck overturned Thursday night in a remote area of Tooele County, ejecting at least four children and injuring as many as seven.

Tooele County sheriff's deputies responded to the crash about 7:15 p.m. after another motorist found several of the injured kids near a road 18 miles north of Ibapah and transported them to West Wendover, Nev., Sgt. Ron Johnson said.

The crash occurred on Last Chance Ranch Road when the driver, 17, traveling about 50 mph, lost control of the truck on a maintained dirt road, Johnson said. Four kids in the bed of the truck were thrown out and three in the cab were also hurt. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, Johnson said, but three helicopters from Salt Lake City transported at least three patients to hospitals.

The 17-year-old driver only had a driver's permit, Johnson said. No citations have been issued yet.
