A Kearns man previously accused of taking construction jobs in another contractor's name has been charged in an additional swindle.
In court documents filed Tuesday, detectives wrote that the man, 37, received more than $3,800 for two concrete jobs in the name of a West Jordan firm. The man completed one job poorly and did not start the second job, detectives wrote.
The man had given the customer a business card advertising the West Jordan firm's name and listing his own name as the owner, investigators wrote.
The man was charged with third-degree felony communications fraud and misdemeanor contracting without a license. He faces similar charges in an April case in which he is accused of operating an additional scheme against two other victims.
The true owner of the firm has said his office has been targeted by various consumer protection agencies over complaints lodged against the suspect, who has no connection to the firm.
