Two ethics bills sponsored by Rep. Brad Dee, R-Washington Terrace, cleared the House on Tuesday and advance to the Senate for further deliberation.

HB345 would require lawmakers, as well as the state's elected executive officers, to wait a year after exiting office to become paid lobbyists.

Rep. Christine Johnson, D-Salt Lake City, spoke in support of the bill, but said she would take it a step further and require that current lobbyists who served in the 2008 Legislature resign. That would include former House Speaker Greg Curtis and former Rep. Mark Walker.

HB345 passed 71 to 3.

HB346 would require candidates and officeholders to report campaign donations within five days. It passed 71-0.

A total of 21 ethics measures are in process.
