Weber State officials went to Indianapolis on Tuesday to appear before the NCAA's Board of Directors for face-to-face hearings regarding possible postseason sanctions.

The Wildcats' football program is one of nine teams in the nation that is seeking a waiver to forestall penalties from the NCAA, which would be applied to the 2009-10 season.

Weber State is facing possible penalties because the program's academic progress rate (APR), a system that measures player retention and graduation progress, is far below 925, the number that is deemed acceptable by the NCAA. On a scale of 1000, the football program's multiyear APR is 853.

A decision isn't expected until May.
