The most dangerous stretch of asphalt in the state soon will have a new name, thanks to SB66.
The sometimes steep and winding Highway 6 -- between Interstates 15 and 70 -- will become the Mike Dmitrich Highway in honor of the former Price lawmaker who served the state for four decades.
Dmitrich, a Democrat, retired in 2008 but returned to the Senate floor Tuesday to hear his former colleagues of both stripes vote unanimously in favor of giving Highway 6, from Price to Green River, his name.
Sen. Curtis Bramble, R-Provo, praised Dmitrich for his ability to find common ground despite partisan differences.
"We found ways over the years," Bramble said, "to build consensus and a brotherhood."
