Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming President of the United States of America. I hope you are excited to become the President, because I am excited too (for you!).

I am concerned about the environment; especially about the impact cars have on the environment. I think everyone should drive cars that are environmentally friendly, like my family's car. We have a C.N.G. (compressed natural gas) car. There are a couple reasons why we have this type of car. First, it's much better for the environment; it's not bad for the air quality like gasoline is. Second, it costs a lot less than gasoline, $.79 per gallon in Utah, which is where I live. There are not very many stations in the U.S.; actually there are only about ten in Utah.

I have another idea to save the environment, to use compost like my family does. Instead of throwing away food you don't eat, put it in the compost bin. The compost turns it into soil for you plants. Recycling is another thing I do that I think EVERYONE should do!

I hope that you take my ideas into consideration, but before you do, you might want to know C.N.G. cars cost a little more than regular cars; compost bins are hard to find, but I'm sure you'll find a way to make them more available to Americans. Congratulations again on becoming the President!

Your Friend,

Addison Morris

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming president! What I am most concerned about is the economy. I hope that you can get our country out of debt. I hate to see people lose their jobs or get fired. People need to keep their jobs in order to pay rent for houses and all of the other stuff we spend money on.

I am very happy that you are going to be our president.

Sincerely,

Cole Jackman

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming President of the United States of America. I am very excited to have a new President. I think it is neat that we have an African American President!

I do have concerns about health care. I am concerned about how many Americans do not have health care, and how expensive it is for those that do have it. I feel that everyone should have access to good quality health care because our nation will be a healthier one. I hope that you will help fix this problem. My wish for you is that you will be happy with your new job. Good luck in your presidency and all the best!

Sincerely yours,

Jonah Vest

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming the President of the United States of America. I hope going into office will be a happy occasion for you.

My big concern for the United States of America is the environment. I think we need to use more environmental friendly cars so there will not be as much pollution. All of the pollution is creating global warming, and in a few years polar bears might go extinct, as well as other Arctic animals.

Another big environmental problem is cutting down trees. We should stop cutting down so many trees and try to reuse paper. I hope that we can work together to fix America's problems.

Sincerely,

McKenzie McCabe

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming the 44th president of the United States of America. I think that you will be a great president. I hope you don't get stressed on the job. I also have some concerns, can you lower the gas prices and insist that the logging companies stop cutting down so many trees? I hope you will do a great job.

Sincerely,

Alex Basinger

Dear Mr. President,

I am a fifth-grader at The McGillis School and I wanted to congratulate you on becoming our next president of the United States of America. I'm really glad gas prices are going down because the high prices probably made a lot of people have a hard time paying for gas.

I really don't like the wars that are happening in the world. Wars are really bad because so many innocent people die for the mistakes made in the war. But any way, I hope you have a great inauguration day.

Sincerely,

David Musci

P.S. I wanted you to be president.

Dear Mr. President,

I am a 5th grader at the McGillis School.

Congratulations on becoming President of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I hope you have a good time in the White House. I have liked your speeches from the first time I saw you on t.v.

The thing that I am most concerned about is the war in Iraq, and the war in Afghanistan. I hope that with your help we can fix what has happened in this country. I feel that we can do better as a nation. I want the war to end as soon as possible, because I don't want any more people to die. I am really happy that you are President, because you can change history forever.

Your Friend,

Alex Wallis

Dear Mr. President,

I am glad that you are our new president. You have a big job ahead of you.

Nuclear power plants are destroying the earth more and more each day by polluting it. We should develop wind power and not use nuclear power plants for energy. We should also use less energy so we save the world. We need to use less energy so the world stays healthy and does not get polluted. Can you help America and the world by keeping a watch on the nuclear power plants in existence as well as finding new power sources?

Sincerely yours,

Ryan Bott

Dear Mr. President,

I'm a fifth grader at The McGillis School. Congratulations on becoming the nation's leader. I'm concerned that global warming will destroy the polar ice caps. I think that you should make cars and other automobiles that run on electricity to help slow down global warming.

Another concern I have is that if we pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, do you think terrorists will take over in this region? I'm nervous that if they take over, they may launch another attack on the United States of America.

What will you do about the economy? I think you should make a law that states that rich people should live without tax cuts. I hope my advice will help you run this country wisely.

Sincerely yours,

Alexander Valeo

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming the forty-fourth president of the United States of America. I am very excited that you are our president.

I have several big concerns for our country. One of my concerns is the war in Iraq. I want us to have peace with Iraq. I also want peace for the whole world. Afghanistan also needs peace with the United States of America. What I think you should do is to not attack Iraq or Afghanistan, just defend our country instead. Iraq or Afghanistan will respond in a grateful way and they will think of our country, the United States of America, as a peaceful one.

Another big worry is the economy. The economy is terrible! People are losing their jobs. I think what you should do is lower all of the gas prices and keep them low. Also, sales taxes are not okay. When you are at a store buying stuff, and you are buying a couple of items, and they charge $6.46 for taxes, it's too expensive for just a couple of items.

I hope you will make this country stand strong.

Sincerely,

Lauren Treiman

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on making the journey to the Oval Office. I know that you have a lot more responsibility now, and I know that you need to listen to the voice of the public, so here's my voice. I don't think it's very fair that gay people can't marry the people they love. Our laws were made to treat people kindly and equally, proposition 8 seriously hurts the purpose of those laws.

The environment is also a big issue. If our world is hurting, aren't we hurting too? I know I'm just a kid, but some day I will make a difference, and I hope everyone will be able to make their voices heard.

Sincerely,

Lydia Hartman

Dear Mr. President,

I hope going into office is a good occasion for you. I want to give you a few pointers for your new job. Please think about global warming, I worry a lot about polar bears. My stuffed animal that I've had since I was born is a polar bear. I believe that polar bears are an important like of our ecosystem and global warming is threatening their habitat and way of life.

I read about you all the time in the New Yorker magazine and I think you will do awesome as the president.

My friend's dad got laid off, and even though he got his job back, many Americans did not get theirs back. I'm only a fifth grader, so I can't change the world just yet. You amaze me when you give speeches and talk about your dreams for America. Your daughters are also amazing the way they are so comfortable moving into the White House and starting over. You are very inspirational to younger generations like mine. You give our generation a reason to believe in world peace. I hope you continue to do well in the White House.

With many congratulations,

Emma Singleton

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on becoming the President of the United States of America! I'm very concerned about our economy, because the dollar value is going down and our debt clock ran out of space because we are in so much debt. I really hope that you will be able to help.

I am also concerned about our health care, because there are many people who are uninsured, and can't go to the doctor when they are sick.

I hope that our country will give gay people more rights, because I think people should be allowed to marry whomever they want to.

I'm also very concerned about the environment, because we need to recycle as much as possible, and try to use more alternative fuels such as biodiesel, use hybrids, or electric cars.

Sincerely,

Emily King

Dear Mr. President,

Good job at becoming the president. What I think is we should stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, and send more men to Georgia to help the people there. I'm also concerned with nuclear warfare. I don't want to die or see my country get destroyed.

Sincerely,

Vincent C. Jacobs

Dear Mr. President,

I'm a fifth grader at the McGillis School and this is what I want to say. Congratulations on becoming president of the United States of America. I am very concerned about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. My dreams for you as a president are for you to stop the wars, help people get health care, and help people get a good education. I think these things are important because if people don't have health care or education, then they could get really sick and die. Or not be about to get a job to pay the bills and then live on the streets. I think since you are going to be President, that you need to listen to the public voices so here's my advice to you, do yoga so you don't get stressed.

I wish you good health and great success.

Sincerely,

Elle Sweetland

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations on being elected as the 44th president of the United States of America, and being the first African-American president of our nation.

I'm concerned about the environment and how bad it's doing. To start helping the environment, you should ban homework so that we cut down fewer trees. I'm also concerned about the economy because many people have lost their jobs.

Once the economy is better and less people are in debt, I'd like it if you could make the weekend longer, possible a three or four-day weekend? Or, better yet, switch things around so that the workweek is two days long and the weekend is five days long. That would be awesome!

I am also concerned about the price of gas. It has gone down a lot, but it's going back up. We really should explore the uses of alternative sources of energy, like waterpower or solar power.

I'm glad you're pulling the troops out of Iraq. I'm happy that we can finally end this war once and for all. I also hope we can finally stop the war in Afghanistan.

Sincerely Yours,

Wolfe Padawer
