Orem police have identified a 65-year-old limousine driver who was hit and killed while attempting to cross State Street.

Gordon Alma Brown, of Salt Lake City, parked his stretch limo on the east side of State Street near 1650 South Saturday night and got out to walk to the west side. Brown tried to cross the road in the middle of the block -- without a crosswalk or traffic signal, police said.

As he crossed from the east to the west side of State, cars in the inner and middle lanes of southbound traffic stopped. But a car in the outer lane did not see Brown trying to cross and collided with him.

The 27-year-old driver, from Provo, was not injured and has not been issued a citation, police said.
