Two Ogden boys have been suspended from school for allegedly accessing pornography on their cell phones during class at Ben Lomond High School.

Meanwhile, police are investigating possible criminal charges.

The boys were caught Nov. 19 by a substitute teacher, Ogden School District Spokeswoman Donna Corby said Monday.

By viewing nude images of women, the boys violated school district policies against using cell phones in class and possessing sexually explicit material, Corby said.

One boy tried to hide his phone's memory chip in his sock after he was caught, she said.

A district hearing will be held this week, after which a longer suspension -- up to a year -- could occur, she said.

Corby said she was unaware of any similar cases of cell phone use in Ogden schools. She noted that school computers are protected by a system that blocks unsuitable material.
