Violin virtuoso Jenny Oaks Baker has given recitals at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She played first violin with the National Symphony Orchestra for seven years, and has appeared as a guest soloist with major orchestras of the world. She's also a successful recording artist who has sold more than 150,000 copies of her seven solo albums.

This week, though, Baker is soloing with a group of high school-age musicians from her home state - and completing a circle in her life.

The Utah Youth Symphony will perform with Baker for the first live concert of music from her newly-released CD 'Silver Screen Serenade.' Fifteen years ago, Baker was the Utah Youth Symphony's concertmaster - an experience she credits with helping to set her course in life.

Most of the film score arrangements of 'Silver Screen Serenade' are by Utah musician Kurt Bestor. They include music from such films as 'An American in Paris,' 'A Room with a View,' 'Somewhere in Time' and 'Romeo and Juliet.'

Celtic-flavored music from the movie 'Far and Away' is Baker's favorite selection of the concert. She believes her young musical collaborators will enjoy it, too. 'There is a special kind of love and excitement that younger players bring to performance,' Baker said. 'And live performance is such a special experience. I think it will be a really exciting performance.'
