Fans find the complete package in BarlowGirl, a contemporary Christian rock band that brings its "Million Voices" tour to Salt Lake City Oct. 7.
Sisters Rebecca, Lauren and Alyssa Barlow make up BarlowGirl, a band whose music reflects faith, finding your true voice, making a difference and maintaining a code of modesty and chastity.
Their appearance at Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake at 7 p.m. will be their second in Utah in three years.
The women, all of whom are in their 20s, got their start backing up their father's Christian music ministry, and have no desire to do anything other than Christian rock, Alyssa Barlow said in an interview.
"We have such a passion for music and sharing our faith through that," she said.
Released in 2007, BarlowGirl's third and most recent album "How Can We Be Silent" is true to form. The sisters weave into their music Christian elements from their own lives about overcoming obstacles and finding empowerment.
Alyssa, for example, puts her struggles with self-image into song.
"I was obsessed with my image and [my mom] helped me cope and find freedom," she said. "My mom isn't afraid to go to those hard places with us. . . . It really was a battle of the mind and thoughts, but to cope, I would write out scriptures and put them on the fridge and throughout the house."
The band's "Here's My Life" reflects the loneliness the members feel while touring.
But performing their music is their calling. God supersedes all, Alyssa said, adding the sisters find solace in one another.
She said "Million Voices," the tour's title, comes from a line in one of the band's songs, which reminds younger generations they have a voice.
"What is our purpose and our goal?" Allysa asked. "Gandhi said 'Be the change you wish to see in the world.' We hope to mobilize people to find their voice."
