Posted: 8:37 AM- The cause of a fatal Moab plane crash remained a mystery after the National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report Friday.

The preliminary investigation found no evidence of an "in-flight structural failure" after witness interviews and documentation of the crash debris.

The Aug. 22 crash killed nine employees of a dermatology clinic and the pilot. They were returning to Cedar City after screening patients for skin cancer in Moab.

Two pilots were in the Canyonlands Field Airport when the passengers boarded the twin-engine Beech King Air. They did not see the plane take off, but reported that it sounded normal. One pilot said he saw smoke in the distance about 15 minutes after the plane took off.

It crashed and burned on hilly terrain about about 1.2 miles southeast of the airport.
