As much as they claim not to look at standings and statistics, baseball players always know what's what when it comes to the opposition, like today's opponent in the best-of-five series when Salt Lake visits Sacramento in the first round of the PCL's conference playoffs.

Freddy Sandoval, the Pacific Coast League's leader in hits and doubles, echoed what other Bees have said about facing a team that has taken seven straight from Salt Lake in winning the season series 11-5.

"It's not always the best team that wins," he said. "In baseball, often the hotter team wins."

So can Salt Lake (83-60) continue a stretch where it won 10 of 14?
