Bob Duff, father of actress/singer Hilary Duff, was ordered to spend 10 days in jail after a Texas judge found him in contempt of court and violating an injunction against selling assets without court approval.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Bob Duff must pay into a court repository $367,537 he earned from selling stocks last month.
Bob and Susan Duff are in the midst of a bitter divorce. The judge also determined Bob should pay Susan $12,500 for Hilary's birthday party, which was the subject of the hearing. Neither Hilary, whose 21st birthday is Sept. 28, nor her sister Haylie were in court.
Cake, cartoons on the docket for Jacko's 50th
Michael Jackson celebrated his 50th birthday Aug. 29, but he's still young at heart. ''I'll just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons,'' the pop star said in an interview with ABC News' ''Good Morning America.'' Jackson talked by phone with ABC on Thursday. Jackson was asked if he had received a card from AARP, which focuses on the needs and concerns of those 50 and older. ''Not that I know of!'' he said, laughing.
Phelps set to make a splash as VMA presenter
He does comedy, writes books and mixes it up with the hottest stars in music and Hollywood. With all this, who needs swimming? Certainly not Michael Phelps - not anymore, at least. But as a presenter at the 2008 Video Music Awards, all that fresh Olympic bling will certainly help. The swimmer joins Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan and Ciara as presenters at the Sept. 7 VMAs telecast from Los Angeles. British comedian Russell Brand will host.
