Having a credit card for your business comes with certain advantages. As your business grows, using one can help you save both time and money.

* It keeps personal and business expenses separate. The credit card should be used only for business-related expenses, so when a statement comes, it will be easy to review.

* It makes tracking employee spending easier. Small-business owners shouldn't need to approve transactions beforehand. A better way to track spending is to issue individual cards to each employee. On your billing statement, the transactions will be itemized. Not only does this make expenditures easier to view, but if any employees are big spenders, you will catch on to their habits fast.

*Financial statements help you stay organized. Credit card companies generate quarterly and annual statements that break down your spending, making life easier around tax time.
