Updated: 4:58 PM- Rescuers escorted a 24-year-old hiker who was stranded in the Clear Face area of Little Cottonwood Canyon to safety Thursday afternoon.
He was off the mountain by 4:30 p.m.
A Salt Lake County dispatcher said the man is not injured, but he could not get down from the mountain by himself.
Lt. Paul Jaroscak with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said Thursday afternoon that the man was disoriented and out of water.
Jaroscak said the man was not trapped on a ledge, he was simply disoriented and did not know what he should have been doing.
A page went out to Salt Lake County search and rescue crews around 10:30 this morning, and workers initiated the rescue effort about five miles from the mouth of the canyon.
