Geology of Utah's Rivers
William T. Parry, 224-page paperback, $19.95, University of Utah Press
Running rivers is one of Utah's most enjoyable activities and this book by William Parry, a professor emeritus of geology and geophysics at the University of Utah and the author of A Hiking Guide to the Geology of the Wasatch Mountains can help add to that enjoyment. The book covers the Green, Colorado, San Juan, Weber, Provo, Bear, Duchesne and a number of smaller rivers in the state. It includes 58 maps and 26 photos. It also covers fish found in Utah rivers and offers information on the state's ancient rivers as well as the basics of how rivers function. To those who like to learn while having fun, the book would make a great addition to Utah outdoor libraries.
