Beginning May 1, after an inning break, if Bee's catcher Carlos Perez fails to be in the batter's box and alert to the pitcher with five or more seconds remaining on the 20-second timer (at left), the batter begins at-bat with an 0-1 count.  The Salt Lake Bees players are watching the clocks now between innings and pitches. Major League Baseball's new pace-of-play rules in effect at all Triple-A and Double-A parks, including Smith's Ballpark, ensure timers keep the game moving.
