PROVO -- The BYU Cougars got their revenge on Tuesday night over the Arizona State Sun Devils, but it was far less satisfying than it could have been.
BYU almost blew a 20-point lead in the second half, but held on to win 81-68 at the Marriott Center.
Last year, ASU beat BYU 76-75 when a basket at the buzzer was waved off at the buzzer in Glendale, Ariz.
Jackson Emery and Tyler Haws led BYU with 17 points apiece.
The Cougars had a 48-28 lead early in the second half, but ASU closed the deficit to 64-60 with 4:44 remaining before BYU pulled away in the final two minutes.
BYU's Jimmer Fredette went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line and has now made 35 straight free throws, a school record.
