No. 16 BYU at Washington,

1 p.m. MDT, FSN

In his first college start Saturday, Northern Iowa's Pat Grace reeled off a 69-yard run against BYU. The Cougars held the 6-foot-2, 235-pound option quarterback in check after that, and he finished with just 72 net rushing yards on 11 carries.

It gets considerably more difficult this week, because BYU travels to Washington to face the 0-1 Huskies and one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, Jake Locker, on Saturday at Husky Stadium.

"We will probably see, arguably, one of the best athletes at quarterback [in the country] this upcoming week," BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said after the Cougars' 41-17 win.

While 16th-ranked BYU was putting the finishing touches on its tougher-than-it-looks win, Washington was playing No. 21 Oregon tough in the first half. The Ducks led 14-10 at the break before taking a 44-10 victory.

Locker completed 12 of 28 passes for 103 yards and ran for 57 yards.

After the Huskies went 4-9 last year, coach Tyrone Willingham is feeling mounting pressure, and if an angry Washington team can't beat the Mountain West Conference opponent Saturday (1 p.m. MDT, FSN), the heat will surely increase.

The AP Top 25 college football poll will be released Tuesday afternoon, but the Cougars don't figure to move up because no teams ahead of them lost. After this week, the poll will be released Sundays for the rest of the season.

The Cougars (1-0) are eager to show they can win a big nonconference road game, Mendenhall said.

"It is certainly something I would like to do a great job of, helping our team prepare, not having been able to reach that goal since I've been the head coach," Mendenhall said. "Different teams, different circumstances, different opponents, but I would really like them to go on the road early in the season and play well."
