"I am pleased we were able to work out the details of completing the third and final game of the original series," BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said. "Both teams have enjoyed recent success and the game should be a good one in the eyes of both schools and the fans."
The Cougars were hoping to open this season against Nevada, but the Wolf Pack backed out of that agreement and BYU was forced to go looking for an opponent, which turned out to be Northern Iowa of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). That game will be played Aug. 30 at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The BYU-Nevada game will be played at Edwards Stadium on Sept. 25, 2010.
It will be the seventh meeting in football between the two schools. BYU leads the series 4-1-2.
BYU's other nonconference opponents in 2010 will be Washington, Florida State and Utah State.
