The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources received $610,000 recently from the sale of a game farm 3 miles northwest of Roosevelt.

DWR decided to sell the 117-acre parcel and 40 water shares because development around Roosevelt had diminished the land's importance as a wildlife habitat. The auction, conducted by the state School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA), started at $370,000 for the land and rose to a final selling price of $465,000. The water shares went for $145,000.

A $6,000 fee was paid by DWR to SITLA, which regularly conducts land auctions and is authorized to organize sales for other state agencies. SITLA spokesman Dave Hebertson said DWR also paid a finder's fee to a Uinta Basin real estate agent.

He identified the purchaser as A&R Development of Roosevelt.
