Net sales for the quarter ending June 30 reached $109.4 million, up from $92.5 million in the same three-month period a year earlier. Usana attributed much of the increase to a 25 percent increase in the number of associates involved in direct sales of company products. Direct sales for the second quarter accounted for $107.4 million of the company's revenue total, a 19.8 percent increase over the previous year.
Those growing sales resulted in quarterly earnings of $18.2 million, up 18.8 percent from the $15.2 million profit in the second quarter of 2006. Earnings rose from 55 cents per share a year ago to 66 cents per share this year, Usana said.
For the six-month period ended June 30, the company said its net sales were $212 million, a 17.3 percent increase over the $180.7 million for the first six months of 2006. Earnings per share increased 23.3 percent in the first six months of 2007 to $1.29, compared with $1.05 in the first six months of 2006.
