Primal Quest Utah, an adventure race that contributed more than $2 million to Moab's economy when it took place between June 25 and July 4, will be televised next week on the ESPN and ABC networks.

"Sports are a key component of Utah's economic development and promotional strategy," said Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. "This race will show the world what Utah is all about."

Ninety coed teams made up of four people competed in the 10-day, 450-mile race that required mountaineering, canyoneering and nighttime navigating skills. Competitors rode horses and mountain bikes, and paddled through rapids.

"You couldn't ask for a better event to showcase the unmatched beauty and adventure our state has to offer," said Jeff Robbins, president of the Utah Sports Commission.

One-hour episodes of the race will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD. The finale is set for noon Oct. 14 on ABC.
