THE UTAH BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE made its debut Friday in a ceremony at its new offices in the Utah Business Development Alliance building, 1747 S. 900 West. Utah Black Chamber of Commerce dignitaries at the event were, at right, Executive Director Stanley Ellington and Board of Directors Chairwoman Betty Sawyer, who is co-founder of Project Success. The chamber, incorporated to help the black community play a greater role in the development and prosperity of the state, is an outgrowth of a initiative presented to Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. last year by the state's Office of Ethnic Affairs. Above, Michael Styles, facing camera, embraces Greg Roby, a local small businessman, following the ribbon cutting. Ava Kabe, right, closed the ceremony, which drew Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert and about 100 others, by singing R. Kelly's hit "I Believe I Can Fly."
