Usana Health Sciences Inc., the marketer of personal health and nutritional supplement products, reported record revenues in the first quarter of this year.

TheWest Valley City-based multilevel marketing company said net sales in the first quarter of 2010 were up 22.4 percent to a record $119.1 million. That compares to $97.3 million in the first quarter of last year.

The increase was primarily driven by a 10.9 percent increase in the number of its independent distributors, largely in its Asia Pacific region, the company said. It also was helped by favorable currency exchange rates that increased revenues by $8.6 million.

Net earnings in the first quarter were $9.6 million, or 62 cents per share, compared with $6.6 million, or 43 cents per share, in the first quarter of the prior year.

The company's share price was down $1.36 on Friday to finish the week at $36.24.
