Most economists believe the recession has ended. Sullivan said the summit was designed to focus on moving out of the downturn.
"We recognize there has been a national economic crisis, but that Utah has been fortunate enough to have a comparatively strong economy. We are actually prepared, and [Gov. Gary Herbert] will speak to that point, of moving out of the nation's recession ahead of the pack," Sullivan said.
The summit begins at 8 a.m. with speeches by economist Kelly Matthews, who retired from Wells Fargo Utah in November, and Randal Quarles, Carlyle Group managing director and a former Treasury Department undersecretary.
Herbert will speak at noon.
Other speakers will be Pam Perlich, a University of Utah senior research economist and David Chen, managing director of Equilibrium Capital Group.
