Zagg Inc., which produces popular accessories for consumer electronics items, opened its first bricks-and-mortar store Monday.

The company with headquarters in South Salt Lake said the store in the University Mall in Orem is operated through a licensed vendor.

The store will be an expansion of its mall carts that sell Zagg products such as earphones and plastic shields that protect cell phones and other devices.

"Our mall cart program works very well, and the in-line store model is the natural evolution for our licensee partners to work toward," President and CEO Robert G. Pedersen II said in a news release.

The company said has 81 mall carts in 21 states.
