Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Patricia Quijano Dark is moving to the Deseret News, where she will serve as a senior editor over minority and Hispanic issues.

Dark said she will be on the job starting in November.

Her duties initially will include exploring how the newspaper can best communicate with the Hispanic and other minority communities.

"So far, we have only talked in general concepts about what needs to be done," she said Thursday.

Deseret News Editor Joe Cannon could not be reached for comment.

Last month, Dark accepted an award on behalf of the Utah Hispanic Chamber that named it the nation's best for medium-sized chambers.
