One of the first modern high rises in Salt Lake City has received The Outstanding Building of the Year or TOBY Award from Building Managers and Owners Association's Utah Chapter.
The building, known as 170 South Main, had been known as First Interstate Plaza and then as the Wells Fargo Building.
The structure has always had the same owner, held in an investor portfolio advised by UBS Global Asset Management.
The 170 South Main building was judged on lobby appearance, corridor and rest room finishes, tenant suite finishes, utility distribution, elevators, community impact and tenant relations, as well as safety and structural standards.
Constructed in 1983, it houses 23 businesses and is managed by Commerce CRG's Asset Services Division.
"We are very proud of this prestigious award and all that it represents for our organization," said the building's general manager, Boyd McGee. "A lot of people have worked very hard to make this building the great downtown facility that it is."
