Boulevard Brewing starts distribution of 2 beers in Utah

The Missouri-based Boulevard Brewing Co., the nation's eighth largest craft brewery, has begun distributing its Unfiltered Wheat Beer and Lunar Ale to the Salt Lake City area.

"Because of our proximity to Kansas and Oklahoma, both of whom share similar laws concerning alcohol content levels with the state of Utah, we brew the two beers to a strength of 3.2 percent by weight, making us one of the few breweries of our size in the country to do so," said Jeremy Ragonese, with Boulevard Brewing.

Fraud protection

Seminar to help seniors be wary of free-lunch pitch

The Utah Division of Securities and AARP-Utah will offer a new tool to help seniors combat securities fraud through what is commonly known as the free-lunch seminar.

Individuals attending the seminar are provided a checklist to ensure that products and investment promoters conform to securities laws and regulations. And information from the checklists may be forwarded to the Utah Securities Division for evaluation.

"Instead of unbiased financial education and a meal, many free-meal seminar attendees are being fed a hard sales pitch for investment products that are often unsuitable," said division Director Keith A. Woodwell. "This program will allow seniors to assess what is being said so they can be informed investors and safeguard their money."

The checklist may be downloaded at www.aarp.org/nofreelunch.
