Former Utah State linebacker Anthony Williams has agreed to a rookie free-agent contract with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Williams becomes the seventh member of this past fall's USU senior class to get a deal with an NFL team after the conclusion of last week's draft.
A 6-foot-1, 245-pound resident of Philadelphia, Pa., Williams led the Aggies in tackles last season with 96 (48 solo, 48 assists). He recorded 6.5 tackles for loss including two sacks. His average of 8.0 tackles per game were tied for 14th-best in the Mountain West.
Williams spent two season on the field for the Aggies (2014 and 2016) and also spent one season as a redshirt (2015). Prior to coming to Utah State, he played junior college football for L.A. Pierce Junior College in Los Angeles, Calif., as well as one year at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa.
